The lake was formed during the Ice Age when glacial ice was stuck beneath the ground’s surface. The ice eventually melted and an area was left where water gradually filled it in.

White Lake State Park is all year, but it’s typically only staffed during the on-season. During the off-season, the restrooms are not open and the gates may be closed.
