Chickadee Ridge is a popular hiking trail that starts at Tahoe Meadows, just north of Incline Village. The hike itself is just 2-miles-long and contains little elevation gain, making for an easygoing trek in a breathtaking landscape!

To find the trail from Reno, travel on the Mt. Rose Highway to Tahoe Meadows. Drive to the end of the meadows where you’ll find parking along either side of the road. There’s no official trail up to the ridge, but don’t worry, the path to the top is easy to find and navigate.

Kenneth Lund/AllTrails Chickadee Ridge is a great hike all year-round. But keep in mind that snowshoes are recommended during the winter.

Simply head in an east-southeast direction, following the forest along the meadow for roughly a half-mile. Once you get to a large clearing, you can leave the meadow and start toward the ridge. There are several trails to follow to the top made by previous trekkers.

Keep your eyes to the trees and you’ll undoubtedly spot an array of chickadees hanging out in the branches. Many hikers like to bring birdseed along because they are known to feed right out of your hand. It’s definitely a magical experience!
