In West Virginia, waterfalling is not just a three-season sport. No, winter waterfalls around here are just as gorgeous as in any other season (and maybe even more so!). Have you ever taken the time, energy, and care required to seek them out? Here’s a taste of what you might find.

- The Middle Falls of Hills Creek (Hillsboro)
jmpncsu/Tripadvisor The Falls of Hills Creek (upper, middle, and lower) can be a bit tricky to access in winter - you’ll need snow boots with excellent traction, at minimum, and that’s if you have a vehicle that can make it to the trailhead in winter. But the view of these falls in the coldest season of the year is well worth the journey.
- The Lower Falls of Hills Creek (Hillsboro)

- Brush Creek Falls (Athens)

The rugged rock it cascades over is especially prominent when it’s coated with a winter sheen of ice!

- Cathedral Falls (Gauley Bridge)
