The entire year of 2020 has been one for the books. While the world looks a lot different than usual right now, even this crazy year can’t ruin one of Nebraska’s biggest celebrations: the AppleJack Harvest Festival in Nebraska City. It’s certainly not going to be the typical festival, but it will be just as full of apple-flavored goodness as always.
The AppleJack Harvest Festival has been named among the top 10 fall festivals in the country by USA Today, and its popularity has only grown over the years.

Usually, the festival takes place over three days near the end of summer and the beginning of the harvest season. It’s a celebration of all things fall, all things apple, and all things Nebraska.

This summer, thanks to the ongoing pandemic, the festival is going to look quite a bit different than ever before. Instead of cramming all of the fun into one weekend, the festivities will be spread out over the entire harvest season. It will still be the fun time we all look forward to every year, but with fewer large crowds and more chances to enjoy the festivities.

Starting on the weekend of September 19, 2020, and continuing through October 11th, the entire town of Nebraska City will begin celebrating the harvest season. You’ll see all of the usual events that you know and love about the festival, like the classic car show, parade, fun run, live music, Nebraska Bloody Mary State Championship, tractor show, and tons more.

There will even be a few new surprises this year, like a Foodie Passport and the first annual (hopefully!) Food Truck Street Fair and competition.

Some of the destinations and activities are free and others require a fee for admission. Turn out to support local businesses and have a fun day celebrating fall. Whatever you do, be sure to get your fill of everything apple: pie, ice cream, cider, slushies, fritters, caramel apples, sangria…the list is almost endless.

Nebraska City rolls out all the stops for the AppleJack Festival, but this isn’t the only time this historic town shines. In fact, we like to think of it as the most perfectly midwestern city in the state.
