Ancient sites are certainly not uncommon here in Arizona, but it’s rare to find one as extensive and well-preserved as this. V-Bar-V Heritage Site in Rimrock boasts over 1,000 petroglyphs — more than anywhere else in Central Arizona!

Tucked away in the Coconino National Forest, V-Bar-V Heritage Site has more petroglyphs than anywhere else in the Verde Valley.

Over 1,000 carvings – some of the best preserved in central Arizona, to be precise – are spread across 13 panels.

All of the petroglyphs at V-Bar-V are Beaver Creek Rock Art Style, which is characteristic of the Southern Sinagua culture.

Just a brief stroll from the parking lot, the petroglyph site is fenced in.

Several plaques outline examples of just how knowledgeable the Sinagua people were. Look how accurately they drew the Verde River – despite having no means to obtain an aerial view.

Also on the property are ruins of the old ranch house. Branded with the V-Bar-V logo on the back, this ornate chimney has remained in surprisingly good condition.
