Montana’s dining scene has really taken off in recent years, especially in our more populated cities. And while we’re extremely thankful for all the high-end steakhouses and exotic cuisine we now have access to, when it comes down to it, sometimes a classic burger and a cold beer is all we need for a great time. That’s why we’re so smitten with Trixi’s Antler Saloon, which is Big Sky Country dining at its finest.

Trixi’s Antler Saloon is located in the tiny town of Ovando, which has a population of 71.

Step inside and you’ll see that this place really lives up to its name.

CATTSAR / TripAdvisor To call it a no-frills establishment would be a huge understatement, but don’t write this place off based on its old-school appearance.

Trixi’s was named after the former trick rider, roper, and showgirl who bought it in the 1950s.

CATTSAR / TripAdvisor These days, the place is owned by Ray and Cindy Francis, who work hard to create the warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Trixi’s serves hearty American breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.

Christine Migneault / Google The menu is quite diverse, offering everything from burgers and steaks to salads and seafood. The Antler Bites (sirloin tips) are a big hit.

In addition to the regular menu, if you visit on a Friday night, you can treat yourself to a fantastic weekly special.

Trixi’s Antler Saloon / Facebook The rotating specials keep everyone guessing – but they’re always good.

This may appear to be more of a bar than a restaurant (and the drinks are, in fact, fantastic), but families are welcome to dine here.

Jody A. Huston / Google There’s even a special kids’ menu, and don’t miss their seriously delectable desserts.
