People always seem to be a bit surprised that Arizona is home to a few thriving wine regions and award-winning wineries. There are three major wine regions and many of the wineries are cool little places that offer unique tastings paired perfectly with treats and even fun experiences. One such example is a wine train in Arizona, which you can take into the state’s Verde Valley.
The Verde Canyon Railroad, based in the Verde Valley’s Clarkdale, is home to the Grape Escape wine tour. This is hosted in the summer during their Starlight Tours.

During your ride, you’ll get the chance to sip on a variety of regional and international wines on a relaxing evening tour through the beautiful canyon.

The tour is available for first-class passengers during an evening ride that starts at 5:30 p.m. You’ll get to watch the sun slowly set and the stars begin to appear in the night sky.

Enjoy your drink in the cabin with your meal or step out onto the open rail car for a chance to breathe in some fresh air and enjoy the views.

And what a view it is! The train will take you on a 4-hour trip from Clarkdale along the Verde River to Perkinsville.

And, if beer is more your style, a special Ales on Rails ride is hosted each October. Brews are selected especially for the Verde Canyon Railroad from Oak Creek Brewing in Sedona.

Verde Canyon Railroad is located at 300 North Broadway in Clarkdale. Their Grape Train Escape runs one Saturday each month at 5:30 p.m. You can find details about the tours on their website, verdecanyonrr.com.

Wine Train In Arizona July 02, 2020 Leah What are the most unique things to do in Arizona? There are many fun things to do in the Grand Canyon State, some that are timeless but are also pretty standard. If you’re looking to shake things up and try something unique and new, there are some great options in Arizona. You can hike through many astounding places, but how many other trails do you know of that lead to an abandoned mansion? The Gold King Mansion can be explored on a trail in the Hualapai Mountains. There is even the option to change up your dining experience with an underground restaurant in the Grand Canyon Caverns. Called The Grotto, it’s over 20 stories underneath the surface and will give you quite a memorable meal. What unique tours in Arizona can I take? If you love the idea of touring the state with train rides in Arizona, you might also love some of these other tours. You can experience some of the state’s caves with a tour through the living Kartchner Caverns. There are 2.5 miles of tunnels to explore throughout it. For a spookier experience, take a ghost tour through the haunted town of Jerome. And to experience some of AZ’s iconic natural wonders, try a tour through Antelope Canyon. The view of the strikingly red, smoothly carved rock surface is one you’ll never forget, but it can only be seen with a guide. Where can I find the best wineries in Arizona? Experience wine tasting in Arizona by visiting some of the state’s lovely wineries and vineyards. The Charron Vineyards near Vail, about 30 minutes from Tuscon, is a great option. With lovely mountain views and plenty of delicious wine, it’s a great way to spend the afternoon. You can taste wine with some fluffy friends at the Bruzzi Vineyard, located in Gila County, with their two llamas that can be pet, fed, and have pictures taken with all while you enjoy the scenery and the delicious wines they produce. The Coronado Vineyards are another stellar option, located in Wilcox and known for their award-winning wines.
