Thanksgiving, squeezed as it is between big, attention-seeking holidays like Halloween and Christmas, often seems to get overlooked. But gratefulness is always in season, perhaps especially when it’s been an extra difficult year, so perhaps it’s time for a new tradition: a Thanksgiving-themed West Virginia road trip, where we all take a quiet moment to appreciate and enjoy some of the many things we’re grateful for.
It might look something like this:

But what better way to get in a thankful frame of mind than to take a moment to remember what a blessing it is to live in a state with so much beauty right in our very own backyard.

Pringle Tree/Facebook No matter what kind of house you live in, it’s probably better than a tree! A visit to Pringle Tree Park in Buckhannon can put your living quarters back into proper perspective. Plumbing? Electricity? Space to lie flat? If you’ve got all that, you’re a step ahead of the Pringle Brothers!
- The International Mother’s Day Shrine (Grafton)

Orr’s Farm Market/Facebook How about some fresh produce or an apple cider doughnut or something else tasty from Orr’s Farm Market? We can’t think of a better way to take a moment to appreciate all the food that has filled our bellies and nourished our bodies in the past year. Yum!

Whether you need a break from technology or a reminder of how much you would miss it if it disappeared, a trip to the quiet, Wi-Fi-free Greenbank Observatory is a good way chance to find out where you are on the spectrum!
