The one-of-a-kind destination actually started off as a few different fruit stands. In 2001, the fruit stands merged into one business, creating the ultimate roadside stop The Tomato Place is today.

Over the years, The Tomato Place has grown into a major pit stop for locals and tourists from both the U.S. and abroad. It’s even been featured on a few TV shows.

But it’s not just the quirky appearance or “southern grandma’s back porch atmosphere” that has propelled The Tomato Place into stardom.

Part of what draws people to The Tomato Place is the on-site café, which serves up hearty breakfasts as well as salads, signature sandwiches, burgers, po’boys, and lunch plates featuring fresh, in-season vegetables.
