Some of the state’s best attractions are also the most obscure. That’s certainly the case with Beaver Creek Reserve. The secluded gem is tucked away in a small town, so many locals don’t even know about it. However, this is one secret you want to be in on since the reserve boasts endless opportunities for outdoor fun. Take a look:

Hiking, skiing, and snowshoeing trails, which total nine miles, make it easy to explore and enjoy the reserve’s diverse habitats, which include upland woods, river bottom forests, wetlands, and savannah areas.

There’s also a trail geared toward children. Dubbed the Storybook Hiking Trail, the ¼-mile paved path features a different nature-themed, illustrated children’s book each season.

Another great thing about the Storybook Hiking Trail is that it offers access to three nature play pods or Nature Nooks.
