Things might feel a bit different this winter, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of fun to be had. Between sweet hiking trails that are great for the entire family and outdoor dining spots that promise to keep us nice and warm, there are lots of ways to remember that New Hampshire is the best place to be this season. And if you need just one more reason to love it, take a trip to this special farm in Jackson!

Nestlenook Farm in Jackson offers one of the coziest, peaceful New Hampshire overnight experiences. In the winter it’s like visiting a wonderland. But staying overnight is just the tip of the iceberg!

Our favorite is the totally unique ice skating experience they offer right on their Emerald Lake. Each year they turn it into a three-acre skating park that looks just like the Victorian skating parks you’d find decades ago!

Everything here is lit up beautifully, from the trees to the gazebo to the bridge you’ll skate under.

The set-up is stunning and you’ll feel more like you’re visiting a quaint European town than your own local spot in New Hampshire.

While the skating is beautiful, they also offer other activity options including sleigh rides.

Available day or night, these rides are just as special as spending a few hours on the ice.

And after both, you can enjoy the grounds including a fun fire pit for enjoying snacks and beverages.

Nestlenook Farm Resort / Facebook This might be one of the most fun winter activities in the state. It’s totally worth braving the cold for. All you need is warm clothes and a camera to capture all your special memories.

The Nestlenook Farm ice skating rink opens when the ice is at least 12″ thick. That means they need a string of a few cold days to make things happen. When they open their hours are Monday through Friday from noon to 8 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and  $7 for kids 4 to 7. Ages 3 and below are free. They also offer skate rentals by the hour for $12 or for the day for $15. Check their website or Facebook to keep up with their schedule. Or you can give them a call at 603-383-7101.

And as your making your winter plans remember the warning we got in the fall. New Hampshirites should expect extra cold and snow this winter according to the Farmers Almanac!
