Many Iowans have visited the Blank Park Zoo, which is the only accredited zoo in the State. However, most Iowans don’t know about the small, family-friendly Sunrise Children’s Zoo, which is supported entirely by volunteers and run by the community itself.

The Zoo is home to cows, sheep, goats, chickens, ducks and even an alpaca or two!

Sunrise Children’s Zoo is located at 257 Ansborough Ave, Waterloo, IA 50701. You can visit for free from June to September! The Zoo is open from Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.. They’re closed on Monday.
