We might still be having a few days of cold here and there, but without the cold and occasional rain it wouldn’t be springtime in Vacationland. We’re confident that spring and summer will arrive wholeheartedly soon and when it does we’ll be ready! We’ve already got our list of hikes, swims and ice cream spots ready and now we know where we’ll be stocking up on fresh flowers.

Little River Flower Farm is a 110 acres of beautiful land located in Buxton, Maine.

“Flower Lady,” Nancy Stedman grows more than 7,000 annuals and perennials organically each year.

Visiting the farm means seeing the wonderful restoration they’ve done, including the 1815 farmhouse, the perennial beds, the growing fields, and a beautiful walking path along the Little River.

The land has been responsive to all this love, offering up lots of flowers, strawberries, blueberries and gourds.

In fact, there are over 3 acres of perennial and annual flowers that visitors can see…and cut!

Many people come to cut flowers for special events, such as weddings and other parties.

In addition to three large fields, flowers are grown in the farm’s 30’ x 96’ greenhouse and in their two 18’ x 48 ‘ hoop houses.

Between 7,000 and 9,000 annual flowers are planted each year!

And we love that the flowers change often. You’ll find things like lilacs, alliums and grape hyacinth.
