There’s no better place to spend the holidays than in Louisiana. We may not get the traditional white winter wonderland that our northern friends do, but that doesn’t stop towns all across the Bayou State from getting all decked out for the season, and it’s absolutely magical. Here are five towns in Louisiana that look like something from a Hallmark movie.
- Natchitoches

Louisiana’s oldest city truly comes alive each holiday season with its annual Natchitoches Christmas Festival, which attracts thousands of visitors from all over the country each year. Millions of twinkling lights illuminate the Cane River and the historic downtown area along with beautiful displays and fireworks on the weekend.
- New Orleans

Christmas in Roseland is always a beautiful event, where you’ll see America’s largest park dedicated to roses filled with thousands of sparkling lights, and for any last-minute gifts, swing by the Louisiana Boardwalk Outlets to see even more decorations.
- Monroe-West Monroe
Holiday Trail of Lights/Facebook Antique Alley becomes a Winter Wonderland this time of year, with festive light displays peppering the streets. Both downtown Monroe and West Monroe come alive with decorations, great for some last-minute shopping in between popping into local restaurants to chow down on great food. Be sure to check. Out the Freedom Trees at the Chennault Aviation & Military Museum and feel free to leave a memento or a note to honor loved ones who have served. There are five trees displayed, one for each branch of the military.
- Minden
Minden Main Street/Facebook Minden gets the reparation of being the “Friendliest City in the South,” and while a wonderful town to visit year-round, it transforms during the holidays. Historic downtown Minden gets adorned with hundreds of life-sized nutcrackers, endless twinkling lights, and more.
