If you spend time in the Wyoming wilderness, you never really know what you might come across. When a group of hunters on a guided tour with SNS Outfitters & Guides set out to go hunting on a ranch near Ten Sleep Canyon, they had no idea they would end up uncovering a geological mystery in Wyoming. Instead of finding elk or deer in this popular hunting spot, they discovered a huge crack in the earth that baffled everyone.
The massive canyon is a crack in the Earth, just south of Ten Sleep. While it’s located on private property, you can find photos and videos of the phenomenon.

To put it mildly, it appears as if the earth has opened up and is swallowing itself. The crack in places is 750 yards long and 50 yards wide.

While nobody is sure what caused this geologic mystery in Wyoming, it’s assumed that is that an underground spring caused the wet ground to slide and shift which led to a landslide.

This very dramatic visual shows just what Mother Nature is capable of, given the right situation and circumstances. What’s even more alarming is that as long as there is room for movement, it could continue to grow even larger.
