There are tons of unique sites here in Wisconsin, and Dr. Evermor’s Sculpture Park is one of them. Filled with sculptures crafted from scrap metal and salvaged factory parts, it’s truly a sight to see. But the most impressive part of the park is Forevertron. At 300 tons, it’s the world’s largest scrap metal sculpture — and it’s as impressive as you’d expect. Take a look:

Located in the village of North Freedom, Dr. Evermor’s Sculpture Park is a quirky roadside attraction if ever there were one.

A mix between a junkyard and an outdoor art gallery, the park is made up of fantastical sculptures — all of which are made from, well… junk.

Each and every sculpture was created by Tom Every — a fact that’s even more impressive when you learn that he was self-taught.

Though he had no formal artistic training, Every was no stranger to scrap metal. He worked as an industrial wrecker for years.

After retiring in 1983, Every took on the name of Dr. Evermor and began creating sculptures out of salvaged items.

Using scrap metal, parts of automobiles, musical instruments, old tools, and more, he crafted a myriad of sculptures.

Varying in size, shape, and species, Dr. Evermor’s creations include everything from giant bugs to quirky, space age-inspired contraptions.

…that’s because it’s gained notoriety as the world’s largest scrap metal sculpture. Absolutely gigantic, it weighs a whopping 300 tons, stands at 50-feet in height, and is 120-feet wide!

But Forevertron’s size isn’t the only impressive thing about it. There’s also the items used to create it, which include a decontamination chamber from NASA’s Apollo project and dynamos built by Thomas Edison.

Sadly, Dr. Evermor passed away in April 2020. Though his sculpture park is still open, its fate is uncertain, which means you may want to plan a visit soon.
