If you could use a little escape right now, there is a perfect place in Southern California where you can spend the night surrounded by beauty, charm, and history. Perhaps you’ve driven by this spot in SoCal many times before, but you may not have known what kind of gem was hiding inside. Here’s a tour of this historical Inn for you to enjoy. But to really savor this experience, make sure to try to see it in person.

Please note, Victorian Rose is no longer in business.

Located in a quiet Ventura neighborhood full of charming SoCal bungalows, you can’t help but stop to notice this gothic Victorian home with a 96-foot spire towering above the city street.

At first glance you may think this is just an ordinary residential house with an extraordinary view, but it’s actually Ventura’s only Bed and Breakfast.

Not only is this Ventura’s only full-time Bed and Breakfast, but the Victorian Rose has an interesting history.

This gothic structure was originally built in 1880 as housing for parishioners of the St. John’s Methodist Episcopal Church. It was later restored into a beautiful B&B in 1999 and has been thriving in that manner ever since.

When you arrive to the B&B you’ll take a step back in time once you open the front door. You’ll climb a beautiful set of natural wood stairs that reflect the churches original character.

The main room of the Victoria Rose B&B is punctuated with a striking window where the sunlight can flood in throughout the day.

There are many rooms to choose from when you stay for an overnighter. The Emperor’s Room is one of my favorites – luxurious, elegant and cozy all at the same time.

Or the Wisteria Gardens room is another great choice that offers a beautiful view and easy access to the outdoor garden on the property.

Just as you would expect, the breakfast served in the morning in the dining area is a lavish feast.

And if you stick around for the 5:00 pm social hour, you’ll be treated to more goodies and beverages.

During your stay you’re a short drive from the major attractions of Ventura – the harbor village, nearby hiking, boating, and easy access to tours of the Channel Islands. So why would you ever want to leave?
