Who doesn’t love to be scared? Everyone loves feeling a bit spooked, and in New Hampshire, our rich history means that there are plenty of haunted places that will put you on edge. We’ve compiled a haunted road trip in New Hampshire that will take you to some of the Granite State’s most haunted sites. Our trip begins on the Seacoast, and winds through the eastern part of the state, finishing in Concord, where you have easy access via interstates 93 and 89 to the rest of our beautiful state.

  1. Island Path Road, Hampton

Eric Vondy/flickr When the fog rolls in off the beach and the timing is just right, you may see the ghost of Goody Cole, the only woman convicted of witchcraft in New Hampshire.

  1. The Isle of Shoals, Portsmouth

Selbe Lynn/flickr This rocky outcrop of islands was home to pirates, vandals and outlaws. Now, it is home to many ghosts and some truly scary places in New Hampshire. Beware the Boon Island Lighthouse ghost, and Betty Moody’s cave, where a mother smothered her infant while hiding from an Indian attack. You can still hear her cries.

Wikipedia/Ken Gallager This place just looks haunted (although the view is beautiful). Groundskeepers have reported heavy doors moving without cause, and lights turning on in Mrs. Kimball’s sewing room.
