The trail to Spoonauger Falls is actually a short spur trail from the Chattooga River Trail. The overall length of the hike from where you enter the Chattooga River Trail is a mere 0.6-miles.

And while it is rated as easy, it’s not exactly a piece of cake for the entire short hike.

But it does lead to a wonderful, five-story waterfall that towers 50 feet over the landscape.

En route to the falls, you’ll cross a stream that will need some careful negotiation. Just be aware of it and prepare for what may seem like a challenge. Most hikers find it’s not as difficult as it looks.

This isn’t the only spectacular waterfall hike in this neck of the South Carolina wilderness. The trail to King Creek Falls is very nearby and could easily be added to this day trip excursion.
