Growing up, what kinds of stories were your favorite? Maybe old fables that taught an important life lesson? Short and sweet nursery rhymes? For me, I always loved a magical fairy tale complete with a love story, royalty, and majestic castles, which is why I am so excited to have discovered this secluded Colorado restaurant that looks like it is straight out of a storybook:
Located in Sedalia is that of the historic Cherokee Ranch & Castle; an “architectural masterpiece echoing 1450’s Scotland” that “serves as a vibrant venue for extraordinary entertainment, education and enjoyment.”

Consisting of 3,400 acres, Cherokee Ranch & Castle used to belong to two different homesteads, owned by the Flower and Blunt families. In 1924, the Flower homestead was sold to the Johnson family, who would go on to build the incredible castle seen today.

Soon after, the Johnsons and Blunts sold their land (and castle) to Tweet Kimball in 1954, who – some 40 years later – worked with Douglas County to protect the land, and in turn founded the Cherokee Ranch & Castle Foundation.
