There are a lot of ways to enjoy a memorable night here in Maine. Whether you choose a little cottage by the ocean, a tree house way up high, or a tent in a beautiful state park, the scenery is always special. While these are all unique to Maine, there are some places you can stay here that are truly unexpected! This overnight stay in one of the most adorable little villages in the state is worth checking out. And the accommodations might just be the most unique you’ve experienced.

The building that now houses the Owls Head Post Office was originally a barn in the 1800s on an island nearby. And it’s been the Owls Head working post office since 1931! Today, it’s completely renovated and upstairs you’ll find the most adorable vacation rental.

While the downstairs is an actual working post office, upstairs is completely insulated from any noise. The loft space has been completely renovated and exudes exactly the kind of Maine charm you’re looking for.

The bedroom downstairs has a queen bed and high ceilings. This place is nice and airy in the summer, but super cozy in the fall and winter.

The loft bedroom also has a Queen size bed and still has some of the original features of the building.

Our favorite part of this perfect getaway is the cupola! The stairs leading up from the loft will make you feel like a lighthouse keeper.

And the bunk beds in the lookout tower above will make you feel like you’re spending the night in a treehouse. Kids love this feature and, ahem, so do some adults.

Up in the cupola, the views are panoramic and you’ll even have the chance to see the ocean depending on the season.

Your stay comes with two kayaks to explore the waters around Owls Head. You’ll also be within minutes of Camden and Rockland offering great food and even more outdoor activities.

But our favorite outdoor activity might just be enjoying the terraced gardens behind the post office. There are chairs, decks, and lots of chances to enjoy the breeze right here. Make yourself dinner, head to the deck and take in the flowers and sunset during this exceptionally unique stay in Maine!

The Owls Head Village Post Office is between $250 and $180 per night depending on the time of year. Summer will be more expensive, but the price drops as soon as the summer season ends. As of publication, there were still some weeks available through the fall and winter. You can learn more about it on Airbnb. Love the idea of a unique getaway in Vacationland? We’ve got another option! Make your time in Maine a stunner by renting this private island!
