One of the most stunning views in the Beaver State is found on the Northern Oregon Coast Range – the highest point on the coast. At 1,683 feet, this mountain is so spectacular that the native people in this region graced it with its name, “Neahkahnie,” which means “place of supreme deity.” Get a look at this view, and you’ll agree that it’s a view worthy of gods.
Two trails take you to the top of Neahkahnie Mountain, but the south trail is the shorter of the two. This trail is 2.7 miles out and back, with an elevation climb of 900 feet.

This trail is rated as moderate, and definitely has some steep spots that can be tricky for some hikers to navigate. Make sure to wear a pair of sturdy hiking shoes, and bring along some hiking poles.
