Driving along Interstate 71 in Cincinnati, you’ve probably made your way through a lengthy tunnel a time or two known as the Lytle Tunnel.

A six-lane tunnel with three tubes, Lytle Tunnel is 1,099 feet long. It’s the longest vehicular tunnel in Ohio.

Above the tunnel, there’s a 2.3-acre park known as Lytle Park. It’s located on the original site of the Lytle family homestead, which was built in 1809 by General William Henry Lytle.

Within the small park, you’ll find some hidden gems, such as the 11-ft. bronze statue of Abraham Lincoln.

Sadly, the construction of Lytle Tunnel meant historic homes and the area’s original park were destroyed in the late 1960s. Today, a few of the original buildings remain in addition to other hidden gems, such as the Taft Museum of Art.
