Delaware is home to so many stunning sights that it’s hard to uncover them all. One such adventure that isn’t nearly as appreciated as it should is is the hike over the landmark Indian River Inlet Bridge. This beautiful bridge has a bit of a troubled history (more on that later) but the views of the Atlantic Ocean, Indian River Inlet, and the Rehoboth/Dewey area are some of the best views in the state. This short walk is easy and paved, so just about everyone can enjoy the Indian River Inlet Bridge hike!

Begin your hike near Coin Beach, on the east side of the beautiful Indian River Inlet.

When they built the latest Indian River Inlet Bridge, they were sure to include a walkway, so pedestrians can enjoy this view as well.

The walkway is about 950 feet long and shows off the ocean side of the bridge.

The views are to die for! You can look out east, or take in a bird’s eye view of the Rehoboth/Dewey area before crossing over towards Delaware Seashore State Park.

Once you’ve made it to the other side, it’s time to relax! Grab a burger and a drink at the Big Chill Beach Club to refuel for your trek back across the scenic bridge.

If you’re an early bird, watching the sunrise from the bridge is an experience you won’t soon forget.

While most people choose to hike the bridge in the daylight hours or at sunset, there’s something to be said for crossing when it’s lit up blue after dark.

This beautiful bridge hike is one of the most unique strolls in Delaware, but I feel like it’s my responsibility to also let you know there is a chance the bridge is haunted. How so? Well, read a bit about its cursed history to find out the story of this stunning landmark bridge.
