Welcome to today’s adventure, where we’re headed is a place named Oregon Trail Nature Park near St. Marys, Kansas.

Over 150 years ago, immigrants traveling along the Oregon Trail traveled a path almost identical to the section you drive on here at the park.

Kansas imagery is painted on an old silo here, by local artist Cynthia Martin. This three-part mural is a memorial to the settlers’ travels, Native American hunting, and Kansas wildlife.

There are a few trails here at the park, varying in terrain and difficulty.

The three trails at this nature park are short loops, but a couple of them are steep, so make sure to stick to the easy trails or watch your steps.

It’s a great place to hike with family, geocache hunt, and learn a little bit about Oregon Trail history as you walk the same path they did.

The park is open from sunup to sundown and is best enjoyed during warmer months, though can be beautiful in the winter. As long as you’re prepared for the weather, you’ll have a great time here.
