When you’re hungry and need something comforting, there are only a few foods that will do the job. Things like pizza are great, but that can feel boring after a while. When we want something truly hearty and delicious, it’s home cooking we love. But what if you’re not in the mood to cook? That’s when we head to this German restaurant in Hanover! There might not be a better place to enjoy authentic German food without a passport.

The Bavarian Brauhaus in Hanover sits unassumingly in a strip mall. If you weren’t looking for it, you might not even realize it exists at all. But, that would be unfortunate because this is one of the best spots to find traditional Bavarian food in Maryland.

Whether you come for a casual lunch or larger dinner, the food here is truly delicious. And one of the more unique aspects of their menu is the inclusion of both traditional Bavarian dishes and some of the local American meals those from Maryland love.

One of the most popular dishes is the traditional kasseler ripchen, a bone-in pork chop cured in a salt brine and smoked.

And, whatever time of day you choose to dine you’ll definitely want to try the desserts. We love the German chocolate cake or the black forest cake.

Enjoy!
