Looking Glass Falls is one of the most popular waterfalls in North Carolina, for good reason. This natural wonder is easily accessible and stunningly beautiful.

It’s actually named for something that only happens in winter:
Water freezes on the flat rock beside the falls during the chilly winter months, making it smooth and shimmery, like a mirror. The rock is called Looking Glass Rock, and that’s where Looking Glass Falls got its name.
