It’s no secret that we are in the middle of year that surprises no one anymore. We’ve just about seen it all, so when the Farmers’ Almanac recently released their predictions for the 2020-2021 winter season, the words “flaky” and “wildcard” didn’t make anyone bat an eye. If you’re one of those people who likes to follow along with these predictions and see if they’re correct, you’ll want to take a look at what may be to come. The Farmers’ Almanac winter predictions for Kentucky are in and it looks like we’ll see a bit of everything, including some “cold and very flaky” weather…whatever that means.

For winter 2020-2021, as one may expect in these, dare I say, unprecedented times, our winter weather looks to be a roller coaster of temperatures and precipitation.
Kentucky falls in a region of the map that has been identified as “cold, very flaky.”
Farmers’ Almanac Of course flaky probably refers to snowflakes, but since it is 2020, we can’t help but consider the other definition of flaky - crazy or eccentric. Sounds about right, doesn’t it?
The Farmers’ Almanac describes our upcoming winter as cold, with average to below average temperatures.

We usually get a mixed bag of heavy snow, freezing temperatures, warmer temperatures, heavy rain, and everyone’s favorite - a wintry mix. Looks like we may see all of these this winter.
Winter in Kentucky often looks like the photo below - grey, brown, muddy, and a little gloomy. But thankfully, beauty can be found in any type of weather, especially in our state.

This year has been filled with unknowns and the unexpected and the same is true with the winter weather headed our way.
