High up in the mountains of the Chugach National Forest is a beautiful lake that you’ll want to see up close and personal. The Carter Lake Trail winds through some of Alaska’s prettiest backcountry on the Kenai Peninsula. The trailhead is located just outside of Moose Pass, and the hike is short but challenging enough to entice every skill level.
There’s a stunning lake in the mountains of the Chugach National Forest that you’ll want to visit.
Rebecca Sparks / AllTrails At the end of a trail, deep in a valley surrounded by beautiful peaks, you’ll find Carter Lake. The trail to get to this gorgeous spot is moderately difficult and one hundred percent worth it.
The entire trail, out and back, is 3.7 miles.
C. Moss / AllTrails You’ll find the first mile and a half to be the steepest and most difficult. After that, it levels out and the hike is very easy and enjoyable.
Total elevation gain throughout the trail is 1,105 feet.

This is a great day hike for those who want a relatively quick out and back trail with rewarding views.
