All of Oregon’s hiking trails have a pretty payoff of some kind – you might see a gorgeous waterfall, a lush forest, or stunning rock formations and canyons. To feel as though you’re at the top of the world, you usually have to be prepared for a challenging climb to the summit of a mountain, but there’s one trail on the Oregon coast that provides stunning views, and it’s not terribly difficult.
For a fun hike that’s not too strenuous but offers gorgeous views, head to Oswald State Park to hike Cape Falcon. The trail is 4.6 miles out and back, and it’s rated as “moderate” on Alltrails.com.
Joshua Sweet/Alltrails You’ll experience an elevation change of 623 feet along the way, and will need to traverse over tree roots and rocks in some places. Overall, it’s a pretty easy hike, considering the viewpoint you’ll have at the end.
This trail can be pretty muddy throughout most of the year, so make sure to wear sturdy boots with good tread. Hiking poles help if it’s slippery, too.

As you start off down the trail, you’ll be surrounded by sitka spruce and lush ferns.

Your stroll will take you along Short Sand Creek, then you’ll climb a bit more til you hear the gurgling of a second creek - Blumenthal Creek. Take a short spur trail for a pretty view of Blumenthal Falls.

After a few more switchbacks, you’ll soon emerge on the bluff overlooking endless ocean views.
