Alaska is filled with a long and interesting history. Talkeetna, a historic town in Alaska, is a funky little town that is filled with history, including its inception as district headquarters for the Alaska Railroad. This town celebrated its centennial a couple of years ago, and it’s a charming place to explore some of the most interesting areas in the Interior of Alaska!

There’s a small town off of the Parks Highway in Alaska that you need to visit.

It was actually founded to be the district headquarters of the Alaska Railroad.

The core downtown area is known as the Talkeetna Historic District.

Some of the buildings, including the Fairview Inn, Talkeetna Roadhouse, and Nagley’s General Store, were built in the early 1900s.

Talkeetna is most well known as the base for those attempting to climb Denali.
