Let’s sit down and enjoy this delicious neighborhood spot.
If you’ve grown up around Fort Smith, then you’ve probably had a special occasion meal at Taliano’s.
Google/Harry Lynn Sometimes that “special occasion” is just a Tuesday but regardless most families have already fallen in love with this longstanding Italian restaurant.
The business has been a delicious Fort Smith foundation for fifty years!
Facebook/Talianos Italian Restaurant In 1970, childhood friends Tom Caldarera, Jr. and Jim Cadelli opened the first fully-fledged Italian restaurant in Fort Smith. Now the third and fourth generations of Caldarera and Cadelli assist with the daily operations. Taliano’s is truly a family tradition!
The Taliano history may be half a century long but the building’s history dates back even further.
Facebook/Talianos Italian Restaurant The restaurant is housed in Jim and Nina Sparks’ mansion built back in 1887. After the Taliano families restored the house in the 70s it was placed on the National Registry of Historical Places.
Inside you’ll find a renovated home with many of its original pieces.
Taliano’s Italian Restaurant The stained glass, fireplaces, and woodwork are all what came with the house. And though they’ve been converted to electricity, all four chandeliers are the original gas fixtures that were installed when the house was built.
The meals here are the same recipes that came out of Caldarera and Cadelli’s childhood kitchens.
Facebook/Talianos Italian Restaurant These family recipes are all authentic Italian dishes from the classic Spaghetti to more intricate Seafood Diavolo with Lobster. Stay with lighter fares like the Linguine Giardiniera or feast on an 8 oz. Filet Mignon San Marco. Taliano’s also offers specials throughout the year!
The main courses are savory and rich but the desserts are even richer!
Facebook/Talianos Italian Restaurant Delicate creams, decadent chocolate, and sweet Spumoni ice cream are some of the flavors to expect for a final sweet note. Their tiramisu is the most requested dessert but we’re fans of the white chocolate raspberry cake. You really can’t go wrong with any selection here!
Taliano’s will easily become your home-away-from-home for spaghetti night dinners.
