It’s spooky time, and we think that even before Halloween, things can get a little creepy. There’s a lot out there we have heard rumors about but this list is a good trip to take if you’d like to stay in your car or only visit for a little while. Come check out where you’ll get scared this year!

- Sallie House - Atchison
Jennifer Kirkland/Flickr Allegedly the most haunted house in Kansas sits in Atchison, where plenty of haunted stories happen. The home is named this way after a 6 year old who died here during a failed appendicitis surgery and grew famous in the 90’s. Psychics that have visited since then name more than Sallie as a presence in the home. Creepy!
- Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery
The KC Kid/Flickr Known as the most haunted Army base in the country, there are more than just war casualties haunting it here, if you ask visitors. There’s also been disease victims, those lost from conflict with Native Americans, and other forgotten souls.
- Burlingame
Google Maps If you’ve ever heard of a legend called The Highway Man, then you may be familiar with the area. According to legend, a man in black appears here, but disappears when you are too close. He’s always just out of view, and we never know what for.
- Alma Cemetery
Melinda Shelton/Flickr This cemetery has had multiple photos taken of it that include orbs, known to be a sign of spirits hanging around. In addition to that, a man who lost his life in a well here has been spotted since. Legend says anyone who sits on the boarded up well will disappear as well. We definitely think that a broken well or injury is scarier than possible ghost!
- Rocky Ford Bridge - Emporia
Google Maps Known as Kansas’s Bird Bridge, the legend here relates to a preacher and his mistress’s affairs. They allegedly drugged and dumped his wife and her car into the water long ago, leading to witnesses hearing screaming and seeing a pale figure walking on the surface in the night.
- Lorenz Schlichter Memorial Cemetery - Le Roy
Google Maps This cemetery shouldn’t be disturbed, but we have been told that there’s something disturbing here already. Cleaning your car before a nighttime visit will ensure it free of marks, but if you park on the road inside you’ll soon hear a thump. Leave the cemetery, only to find a handprint or ten on your vehicle as if children were smacking your car as you drove by.

This creepy and abandoned cement plant is more than the rubble it appears to be. The ghost of an old worker named Boris lurks the area, and for a while people claimed you could see his tools still sticking out of the cement.
