Many people have supposedly seen ghostly apparitions, one of which was James Wormwood, a former blast foreman that treated his workers terribly. Mr. Wormwood worked the graveyard shift, and it’s believed the workers banded together and threw him into the molten fires of the furnace because of their mistreatment.

While exploring Sloss Furnaces, several visitors have also claimed to hear strange noises and felt sudden temperature drops throughout the facility. Paranormal investigators have reported hearing screams and seeing shadows.

The strangest thing about the sudden temperature drops is they usually happened in the months of September and October during the former graveyard shift. Is Mr. Wormwood responsible for this? Is Sloss Furnaces truly haunted? Even though many visitors have come forward claiming this furnace is haunted, several others believe it’s not.
