The beaches at Olympic National Park are truly remarkable. While you won’t find soft white sand or sunbathers in swimsuits, you will discover sea stacks, drift logs, and captivating tide pools. And since most tourists flock to the well-known La Push beaches, you’ll find peace and quiet at Shi Shi Beach any time of year. And while current conditions have unfortunately kept this beach closed for the summer, it won’t be long before you can enjoy a secluded stroll there again.
Shi Shi Beach is located near Neah Bay on the tip of the Olympic Peninsula.
Ross M / TripAdvisor It’s so out of the way from most attractions, you’ll feel like you’re in your own world when you’re here.
Shi Shi Beach is renowned for its stunning beauty.
Marco W / TripAdvisor Between the rugged sea stacks and the Point of the Arches, it’s truly a one-of-a-kind spot.
The beach sits in the middle of the 6.7-mile Shi Shi Beach Trail, a popular hike that’s largely oceanfront.
Marco W / TripAdvisor While the trail is currently closed for the season, when it re-opens, it will once again be available all year.
The beach itself is about 2.5 miles in length, and it’s nice and secluded.
Marco W / TripAdvisor The beach isn’t exactly a secret — you can camp here with a permit, and people often do. But it does manage to stay a lot less crowded than the other beaches in the area.
If you do decide to walk the entire length of the trail, know that you’ll be passing through the tribal lands of the Makah Tribe.
Marco W / TripAdvisor Being respectful is always appreciated.
When you go, make sure to check out one of the famous Shi Shi Beach sunsets.
