Translating to “exit” in Spanish, Salida was founded in 1880 after the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad reached the area and was named to embody the exit to the Arkansas River canyon.

Though the town is no longer a railroad hub, it is still as vibrant as ever thanks to both its residents and businesses, beginning with the charming downtown area that boasts not only unique shops, galleries, and restaurants, but most of its original architecture.
