When it comes to ghost stories, cemeteries often provide the perfect atmosphere. After all, if you’re looking for the restless spirits of the dead, don’t cemeteries seem like the place to go? Oregon has a few cemeteries that are reportedly haunted, but Rock Point Cemetery in Gold Hill is one of the spookiest.
Rock Point Cemetery is located in Gold Hill, and it’s more than 100 years old.
Pam S/FindAGrave There are more than 900 marked graves here, dating back to the pioneer era, but it’s thought that there are actually around 1,000 people buried here.
The cemetery is a pretty, peaceful place…most of the time. Some visitors report seeing and hearing all kinds of strange activity here.

During the day, visitors see an elderly man wandering amongst the headstones. As they approach, he disappears into thin air.

Other, more sinister spirits wander here at night. A man in a hooded robe is often spotted walking around, holding up an old lantern to light the way.

Others report a strange, green mist that rises above the cemetery some nights. Sometimes the fog is accompanied by odd noises and footsteps.

The cemetery is less than five miles away from the Oregon Vortex, and some locals believe that there’s a connection. For no explainable reason, car windshields often crack while driving past this cemetery.

The creepiest sightings here involve crypts catching on fire, also without any reason.
