Strasburg Railroad’s President’s Car offers riders a glimpse into the past during select summer dates and during special events, including the hugely popular Santa’s Paradise Express.

Dating back to 1913, the President’s Car originally served as a luxurious way for the elite in business and the railroad industry to travel with the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad. The car was considered a home on wheels, and it was furnished as such with comfortable furniture and even China cabinets.

The Strasburg Railroad bought the 83-foot President’s Car in 1964 and kept it on display until it was restored to its former glory in 2002. Since then, the historic car has carried up to 20 passengers on select days and for special events throughout the year.

Only 20 tickets are available for the President’s Car for each train ride that it runs. Private charters are also available if you’d like to rent out the whole car for an event.
