For many of us, it simply wouldn’t be the holiday season without a Hallmark movie marathon. There’s something about those heartwarming plots and wholesome content that puts us right in the Christmas spirit. Rhode Island has been the setting for several of these feel-good flicks, most notably a rather gut-wrenching film called November Christmas.
November Christmas isn’t exactly your typical romantic holiday flick.

The star of the movie is Vanessa Marks, an 8-year-old girl with a life-threatening illness.

Vanessa’s parents are played by John Corbett and Sarah Paulson.

Vanessa decides she’d like to see snow for Christmas that year… but her parents know there’s a chance she might not make it to December.
Hallmark Channel / YouTube Tom asks Jess Sanford, a neighboring farmer, for some pumpkins even though it’s a bit early for Halloween. Later, when he asks for a Christmas tree, Jess realizes what the father is doing.
Jess treats the family well, helping them pick out a special tree.
Hallmark Channel / YouTube During all of this, Jess reconciles with an old friend he’d lost touch with when his own son passed away several years before. That was a heartwarming twist that led to a happy reunion.
The family continues to inspire the community, who works to bring an early Christmas to Vanessa.

But remember, this is Hallmark we’re talking about… and let’s just say things don’t end tragically for Vanessa (thank goodness).
