It’s located in the northeast corner of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and just inside of the North Carolina border.
The Big Creek Group Campground is perfectly situated to enjoy a number of hiking trails — many within walking distance!

Arrive in time to set up camp and then wander across the street to the Big Creek Trail. A favorite among hiking enthusiasts that love to explore the GSMNP, the trail has several attractions that are nearby to the Big Creek Group Camp.

After just a short 1.5 mile hike, you’ll enjoy the spoils of an emerald lagoon. This natural swimming hole is as cold as ice no matter the season you swim. But after a brisk hike, most are willing to give it a try.

Stay on the trail for another half mile to arrive at the scenic Mouse Creek Falls. This waterfall cascades over a bed of massive, moss-covered boulders to a small pool below.

Big Creek Group Camp is equipped with flushing toilets, vault toilets, and drinking water with sinks. In addition to having a maximum occupancy of 25 persons, it has a minimum occupancy of 7 persons. The campground is only available for a group rental.
