Pillsbury State Park in Washington offers tons of land to explore, but it’s still one of the least-visited state parks in New Hampshire.

While it’s considered a bit primitive, it’s known for being exceptionally well-maintained. The land features lots of different habitats which means there are a variety of different animals living here. And you just might have the chance to spot a moose or hear the haunting call of a loon.

The park also features many different wetland examples, including ponds and streams.

And the park offers kayak and canoe rentals allowing visitors to explore the area even more deeply.

And the hiking trails here offer access to lots of different landscapes. Enjoy the brooks, streams, and small waterfalls throughout.

You’ll even have the chance to hike on a part of the Monadnock-Sunapee Greenway, a 51-mile route connecting Mount Monadnock with Mount Sunapee.

Pillsbury State Park is open year-round, but during the off-season, it’s not staffed and restrooms may be closed. During this time, if conditions are considered dangerous, the gate will be closed so be sure to call ahead if you’d like to visit. Entry for adults is $4 and kids 6-11 are $2. Campgrounds are also available from mid-June through Columbus Day 2020 for a fee.
