Just south of Topeka, this public farm sells pick-your-own strawberries in the spring, and many other items to pick through the rest of the year. There’s no charge just to visit, but there are donation boxes that keep the farm running and the produce prices reasonable.

Right now, they have sweet corn available to pick as each patch grows at staggered times to keep people flowing through the farm. They have a few fields they plant at different times to make sure there’s a steady supply of fresh sweet corn ready to go.

Mid August, you can expect watermelon available to pick, fresh off the vine and into your car.

Sunflowers will be ready to head home with you late August and labor day weekend, with more possibly around the first of October.

Pumpkins are also expected around the first of October, and we couldn’t be more excited. What looks better than pumpkins and sunflowers in a Kansas scene? Not much, if you ask me.
