Have you ever been to Itasca State Park? This northern Minnesota park is home to the headwaters of the Mississippi River, making it a popular place to go for those who would like to take part in the tradition of walking across the river. The park is especially popular in the summer months thanks to its hiking trails, campsites, fire tower, and other wonderful attractions. But Itasca State Park is a wonderful place to visit in the winter, too. Under a blanket of snow, perfect peace and quiet descend upon the park. It’s an excellent place to get away from it all. Here’s what you’ll find when you get there:

Itasca State Park is a 32,000-acre state park in northern Minnesota. It’s about 30 miles south of Bemidji, or 215 miles north of the Twin Cities. The park is beautiful throughout the year, but winter brings a special kind of beauty.
