The latest reason you’ll want to find yourself in Saugerties, Opus 40 is one of New York State’s most unique sculpture parks and its history dates all the way back to 1938.

Back in 1938, a man by the name of Harvey Fite purchased the land we now know as Opus 40, using only hand tools to create this incredible work of art that was built over the course of more than 35 years.

A spot that’s now been open to the public for over 40 years, Opus 40 is an exciting place to visit all throughout the year but you’ll want to pay attention to what’s happening here this summer!

From now through September 4, every Friday beginning at 5 p.m. you’ll be able to see New Yorkers enjoying Friday Night Picnics at Opus 40.

Teaming up with The Dutch Ale House to bring visitors of the sculpture park something truly special, those who pre-order their Friday Night Picnic by noon will be able to come to the park and have the perfect picnic brought right to them.

As you pick your spot and decide where to settle down at Opus 40, you’ll get to feast on lobster rolls, lemon bars, and chilled wine in the park.

Don’t worry! If you somehow can’t make it to one of the many upcoming Friday Night Picnics that are being hosted this summer, there’s another option available to you.

Also teaming up with the Stockade Tavern in Kingston, Opus 40 will also be hosting Stockade Saturdays now through September 5 - where visitors are able to bring their own picnic essentials and then enjoy a made-to-order cocktails from a master mixologist. How tasty does that sound?
