Oklahomans Should Expect A Temperamental Winter This Year According To The Farmers Almanac

One phrase you learn growing up in Oklahoman is “if you don’t like the weather, wait fifteen minutes.” This winter does not look to be any different, as the Farmers’ Almanac has predicted a temperamental winter. If you like cold and snow then you’re in for a treat as the almanac predicts heavier than usual precipitation and colder temperatures. Make sure the fireplace is cleaned out and ready to go. We suggest you pour your favorite warm drink, as you settle in for a nice, long erratic winter in the Sooner State.

Oklahoma has rather mild winters on average compared to many other states. On occasion, however, we can get blasted with a snowstorm (or ice storm) that drops several inches of powder.

As you can see from the U.S. map below, the winter season is very different depending on your part of the country. The fact that Oklahoma is almost perfectly in the middle of the country is the reason for the temperamental forecast. Heat to the west and cold to the east.

Kids of all ages love getting out and playing in the snow. If the Farmers Almanac is correct, there should be no shortage of opportunities to sled and have fun this winter.
