The Buckeye State is home to some truly amazing hidden gems. Few people know about the unique carvings at Worden’s Ledges. Tucked away in northeast Ohio, these ledges are hiding in Cleveland Metroparks in Hinckley Reservation. The ledges themselves are captivating to walk through, but the faces carved into them make you feel as if you’ve temporarily entered another world.

Worden’s Ledges Loop Trail in Hinckley Reservation is a true hidden gem to Ohio explorers and hiking enthusiasts.

Brian T/All Trails It’s a 0.7-mile loop trail that features one-of-a-kind carvings from the 1940s.

Stumbling upon this in the middle of the woods feels like you’ve uncovered a secret.

Along this enchanting trail, you’ll spot the faces of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, as well as a pirate ship, a guardian sphinx, Christ on a crucifix and more.

The ledges were named after the owner of the land, Hiram Worden. The faces were carved in the 1940s by Worden’s son-in-law, Noble Stuart.

During your adventure, be sure to look at the sandstone cliffs closely, as there are several hidden carvings.
