When it comes to holiday displays, none quite compare to Candy Cane Lane. It’s not the thousands of holiday lights or plethora of décor that make it so special, though. It’s the meaning behind the display that’s truly heartwarming – and a perfect reminder that it’s the season of giving. Take a look:

Things are looking merry and bright in West Allis, and it’s all thanks to the beloved holiday display, Candy Cane Lane.

What was once a quaint residential display, which was started by neighbors to raise money for another neighbor’s child who had been diagnosed with cancer, has transformed into a display that’s both massive and magical.

But the number of visitors and the size of the display aren’t the only things that have grown over the years.

Since its inception in 1984, the neighborhood display has raised more than $2.8 million to support childhood cancer research and the study of related blood disorders.
