Make Your 2020 Even Stranger By Staying At Colorado S Stanley Hotel

You know all about Colorado and its world-famous mountains, beer, and outdoor activities, but did you know that we are also home to one of the creepiest and most haunted hotels in the country? If you hail from the Centennial State, you know we do, and it is – of course – the world-famous Stanley Hotel.

Located in Estes Park, the Stanley Hotel is an incredible 140-room Colonial Revival hotel that may look innocent enough on the outside but is hiding some downright dark and deadly secrets.

Built in 1909, the Stanley spooks began shortly after the hotel first opened, as - according to legend - a maid was electrocuted in room 217 (pictured), making it the most terrifying place in the hotel.

In addition to the eeriness of room 217, the Stanley Hotel also boasts other haunts around the premise, including flickering lights, the sounds of children running up and down the hallways, sightings of the original owner, and objects moving on their own.

Are you not from Colorado and can’t figure out how you know the Stanley? It is probably from “The Shining,” which was inspired by Stephen King’s stay at the Estes Park hotel!

Thanks to the Stanley’s notoriety, it was recently named the #1 best haunted hotel in America by USA Today’s 10Best, which notes how “guests visit the hotel to see the long, spooky hallways and listen to ‘Redrum.’”
