Located in wild and gorgeous Harlan County near Cumberland, Kingdom Come State Park is well worth a visit in any season of the year. And while you’re there, you do not want to miss the breathtaking panoramic views you’ll find from the park’s many overlooks!
Kentucky has some beautiful forests, and we love them as much as anyone. But occasionally, when we get to feeling a little crowded by the thick canopy, we need a place that opens up and lets us see for miles. And one such place is Kingdom Come State Park in Harlan County.

Kingdom Come State Park is perched at 2,700 feet above sea level on the crest of Pine Mountain near Cumberland.

And the park puts its height to good use – the overlooks at Kingdom Come are the highest and most numerous in the whole state park system.

There are five developed viewpoints that look out over miles and miles of Kentucky mountains: Black Mountain Gazebo Overlook, Creech Overlook, 12 O’Clock Overlook, and the two Raven Rock Overlooks.

You can drive right up to the first three overlooks or take a short hike to Raven Rock to see out from the other two.

That means you can easily spend time at all five on your visit!

And as long as the snow is not too deep, you can access the park year round. It’s fascinating to see how the landscape changes with each season.
