Do you love scavenger hunt games? What if they were art installations as well? Whether you’ve seen anything like them or not is likely dependent on whether you’ve visited a little spot in Kansas named Lucas. What this artist has created from scrap metal will live on for years to come as the Open Range Zoo installation. Come check it out!

See this amazing piece of art? It was all created from recycled materials such as abandoned vehicles and scrap metal.

Jim Dickerman is a grassroots artist and has placed many of his sculptures around the Beverly, Lucas, and Lincoln, Kansas areas. Whether you’re into fantasy creatures or something that looks a little more recognizable, he makes all kinds.

Some of them you’re lucky enough to find in parks, and they’re great for looking at up close.

All of these sculptures are part of what he calls his “Open Range Zoo”, a collection of nearly 30 welded metal creatures. They’re all to promote his studio, and many of the creatures are along highway 18 in the area.

Though they’re spread all over the place, once you realize his style, these creatures will be easy to spot anytime you’re in the area. They’re that unique!
